RECREATIONAL AND TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAMS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

The Silver Lake Academy was created in 2005 as the recreational affiliate of the Silver Lake Soccer Club [see history]. In June of 2009, a decision was made to offer a travel soccer program through Silver Lake Academy. Some teams from the Silver Lake Soccer Club have decided to transfer into the Silver Lake Academy travel soccer program. In addition, the founder of the Silver Lake Soccer Club, Doctor Nigrin, who created that club in 1970, has decided to end his affiliation with the Silver Lake Soccer Club and support the new Silver Lake Academy travel soccer program (Read Doc's Corner).

Silver Lake Academy's recreational soccer program, which is available to boys and girls, has teams playing in the Staten Island Youth Soccer League. Teams start at the under 6 level and they end with the under 14 age group. In this program, the basic skills of soccer will be taught and the boys and girls will play games in the Staten Island Youth Soccer League. It should be noted that a program for children who are 4 years of age and a summer clinic for children ages 6 through 9 will be implemented soon.

Silver Lake Academy's travel soccer program is offered for boys and girls who desire more intensive training and who have demonstrated the ability to compete at a higher level than recreational soccer. A greater commitment from parents and players is required for this program because there are usually two practices per week which are from
1_ to 2 hours in length and there will be games played outside of Staten Island. Teams start out playing in the under 8 age level and can continue to the under 17 age group. Currently, the teams are registered in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and will be competing against teams within the 5 boroughs of New York City.
